Visual Analysis

Our primary areas of expertise include both visual data mining, geographical information systems, and immersive environments. The center's innovation stands out in the integration of these primary areas of expertise into single research systems and processes. We have conducted visualization research projects in a variety of areas such as the Medical, Accounting, Education, Architecture fields. These visualizations create meaningful representations of large data sets, allowing the user to better comprehend their data and more easily identify trends.

Below are a few sample visualizations breaking down the major incidents in each country, using a United States State Department listing of the major terrorism related events between 1980 - 2001. From this data we developed an interactive Geospatial site, which provides the user visual overviews of the incidents geographically, as well as more detailed visualizations providing a breakdown of the different incidents for each country.
